January 2025 Main recap

Since i play 30+ games each month, here a main recap :

Top 5 Playtime Games beaten

Edge of Eternity
10 hours this month - 32 hours in total – A indie RPG close to Final Fantasy series maybe a too much guided (mainly closed zone), but a fun experience, until final boss, which is totally overpowerful, 3 phases, and rage quit on final phase, boss is bugged and start before your turn, and remove 50% of your health instantly, watched the end on youtube …

DOOM
10 hours this month – 10 hours this month – Really nice shooter game, really nice optimised for a +60 Go game, but sometimes too mazed (east to get lost), game completed.

Torchlight II
4 hours this month – 24 hours this month – Really nice hack’n’slash, road to max level, currently at level 80.

Cloudbuilt
4 hours this month – 4 hours this month – Nice great parkour game, easy to learn, hard to master, get from a curator group, all base levels completed (3,1 % of the players have get this achievements)

Klang 2
2 hours this month – 8 hours this month – Game re-completed, but this time completed with a mouse.

Top 3 Playtime Game unfinished :

Battletoads
3 hours this month – 3 hours this month – Nice fun beat them up / shooter / 2d platform, but pretty short, around 90% of the game completed.

Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition
2 hours this month – 2 hours this month – Really nice 2d platform game, a must have, around 30% of the game completed.

MAGLAM LORD
2 hours this month – 6 hours this month – Overall nice RPG, but pretty grindy game.

Definitely hate it when the final boss difficulty spikes like you describe in Edge of Eternity. It always seems very unfair when that happens.

Warriot

Yep, even more when that the only difficulty spikes and ask you to grind a lot just for a final boss, was a rage quit for me …

robilar5500

I would have rage quit as well.

Zelrune

Congratulations on your assassinations!!! ᓚᘏᗢ
Ack, I still have Edge of Eternity on my steam list. I guess I have that to look forward to! Also; let me know how you liked MAGLAM lord! The game seems pretty funny but the grind seems a bit silly.

Warriot

The grind is mainly based on getting materiel for getting better weapon, pretty rare, but required sometimes for getting better weapon, easy to grind, but can take 30 minutes-1 hours for getting new stuff.
Also, you often reply the same map, but just again powerful monster, from my 6 hours only discovered 3 differents maps, so pretty repetitive.

Torchlight II is definitely one of my top favourites in the genre. I wish Runic Games had a time to make Torchlight III instead of that abomination we left with. I suggest at least one new game+. Which character you’re playing with? I played with all but I can say Embermage with high criticals was my favourite. By the way, if you ever think to go for hardcore achievements, I also tried it with every characters but it was only possible with engineer. Even with that I almost died too many times. :)
At least you can get all in one playthrough (with hardcore elite). In first Torchlight it was separate for every achievement.

Warriot

I play as a Engineer with Healing Bot / Immobilization Copter / Gun Bot / Sledgebot as invocation and Flame Hammer as primary attack skill, no searching for achievements, just road to get max level (100), currently at 82.

Mitsukuni

I see. I’m not an achievement hunter as well, though if I like a game too much I might go for all as did with TL2. Anyway, once you reach 100, you can buy level 105 dungeon maps and play more to get slight chance for legendary items. Normally these maps were suppose to be randomly generated but there are only 3 variants (I think) of each, so maybe 15-18 different maps total.

Have fun!
