:O Why’d you dislike Cozy Grove?
It’s basically a game with a great look but no substance. After about 5 hours or so, the game basically becomes a daily fetch quest simulator where you’re incentivized to try to hoard as many quest items as possible so you don’t end up with a day where you literally can’t do anything to progress the story.
I think it took me about 175 hours to complete the entire story with daily gameplay, and one achievement afterward took the other 35 hours or so of the full game time. Granted, I was afk for about 20 hours of the total game time due to being so bored and forgetting I had it open, but I think you get the gist of things…
I should’ve listened to the reviews talking about this aspect of the game… the graphics and concept baited me so hard…

Damn! That sounds exactly like the kind of game I’m afraid of stumbling upon one day! I’ve seen it likened to Animal Crossing (heck, now that I looked at the store page again, they’re pretty much comparing the two), but reading this, I will gladly not rush into playing it. AC, though, that I do want to get back to eventually…
Yeah, I like games like Animal Crossing, but Cozy Grove just ended up being a bare-bones copy that was all style and no substance :/
Getting back into AC doesn’t sound like a bad idea, though!
Yeah, I’ve only played it for about 3-4 months before something went wrong (I figured I might as well start from the beginning, so I was emulating the N64 one), but by now, I super duper miss it. Plus, now that I’ve got a Steam Deck, I should be able to get RetroArch on it…
Good luck in emulating the OG Animal Crossing on it! First time hearing about that application but it looks pretty neat :)
Oh, it’s great! It basically collects nearly all console emulators you could think of (as long as the original developers are willing to provide support) and there’s a whole achievement hunting community attached to it. There are a lot of games I’ve missed out on (on account of being the age that I am lol), but I’m taking it easy :)
I never had the biggest desire to play older console games, but I’ve used a few emulators in the past, and they were pretty neat! It’s cool how there is an achievement-hunting aspect of it, too. What are some other games you plan on playing that you’ve missed out on?
Oh, there are A LOT. Ace Attorney, Cooking Mama, Harry Potter (I’ve only ever played the PC games), Katamari, The Sims… maybe even Clock Tower and Haunting Ground, if I’m ever brave enough! (I watched playthroughs years ago and loved them, but the achievement aspect definitely keeps me from playing bigger games.
These are just a few bigger franchises, but ever since they added a backlog function to the RetroAchievements site, mine’s only been growing. Loads of puzzle games, classic point-and-clicks, rhythm games and even modern indies made for GameBoy also get added as soon as I see a new achievement set has been released.
Daaaamn! You most definitely have a lot to do there now! I hope you have a great time playing everything!
Yeah, for sure! I have to devise some other kind of system, or else I’m gonna keep drowning! Thanks for the encouragement haha
Oh my so many hours on a disliked game
The life of an achievement hunter…
