For Pickers. Just copy paste and complete the data :)
* [GAME#1](http://store.steampowered.com/app/GAME#1-ID/) - HLTB Time: GAME#1-HLTBTIME
* [GAME#2](http://store.steampowered.com/app/GAME#2-ID/) - HLTB Time: GAME#2-HLTBTIME
* [GAME#3](http://store.steampowered.com/app/GAME#3-ID/) - HLTB Time: GAME#3-HLTBTIME
* [GAME#4](http://store.steampowered.com/app/GAME#4-ID/) - HLTB Time: GAME#4-HLTBTIME

- Please make sure your games are sorted by completion before applying.
- If you so desire and you have at least 5 unplayed SG wins, the 5 games can be picked out of your SG wins (instead of only 2/5). Just note it in your application comment.
- Note in your post if you're ok playing multiplayer only games.
- Same for Early Access (I know some people want to wait for release).
- When you finish one (or more) of the games picked for you, please post an update by replying to your picker's comment.
- If the game has achievements, you can link to either the Steam or Astats page corresponding to your progress.
- If the game doesn't have achievements, please post a screenshot showing your completion.
- Finally, if you have completed all the games that were assigned to you but want another go at it, feel free to post another application.
- You can pick for/challenge up to 2 fellow assassins, please refrain to pick more so everybody who wants get a chance at it.
- You can pick for anybody who has applied and hasn't been given a list yet, unless they specified otherwise (see next point). It is recommended to signal with a "reserved" comment that you're currently picking for that person. This way it'll avoid the situation where you spend time picking games just to come back to somebody's comment 2 minutes prior.
- Please use the following criteria when picking a list for somebody.
- Pick exactly 5 games
- Length-wise: at least 2 short games (under 10h to beat) and 2 medium (under 15-20h). You can use HLTB to check the time, or more conveniently the Enhanced Steam browser extension (it shows the HLTB time directly on the game's steam page). That rule can be overridden by the bottom (i.e. pick 5 short games) but not the other way around, as not everybody has the same time to dedicate to gaming.
- Pick two SG wins unless the person specified SG wins only, in which case pick only in the applicant's SG wins list.
- Quality-wise: at least 3 of the 5 games should have a positive (or above) rating. You can use this site to quickly sort games in a user's library by ratings (thanks to JaffaCaffa for the suggestion).
- Please, respect the applicant's choice regarding multiplayer-only and Early access games, as well as other requests (exclusion of certain genre etc.).
- Please use the code below to post your comment, it's already formatted, you just have to copy/paste & complete the data.
Do I have to participate in this event?
No, this is an event to help you reduce your backlog. If you already have a plan and don't want anyone to pick games for you, you're free to ignore it.
What happens if I don’t participate in the event?
Absolutely nothing.
What happens if I play all the games picked for me this month?
Still nothing. (You might get a shiny profile badge at some later date. And you can come back for another batch.)
What if I don’t have time to play 5 games?
Don’t worry, one is enough, we’re just asking the pickers to select 5 to give the player a little choice.
One of the game picked for me won’t run on my computer for X or Y reason, what do I do?
If this happens, please notify the picker by replying his comment and ask them to pick a replacement. If the original picker don’t give you an answer within 24h, don’t panic, just leave a comment and we’ll pick one for you. Meanwhile, you could try one of the other picked games if you haven't played them all yet.
I played all 5 games that were picked for me and I want more!
If you have completed all 5 games and reported your completion to the original comment, you can make a new request for another list.
When picking for other people, can I only pick “never played” games?
Not necessarily, you can also pick games that seem to have been abandoned but haven’t been categorized as “won’t play”. No beaten or completed games, or games being currently played obviously.
Why are there so many rules for picking the games? I can’t be bothered!
We’re trying to make this enjoyable for everyone so if you decide to pick games for others, please read and follow the rules. I’ve tried to make it as easy as possible for the pickers too, but if it’s bothering you too much, remember you don’t need to pick games for others to join the challenge.
I’m new here, can I join the challenge?
Yes of course (and welcome to BLAEO). Please just be sure to have your games sorted by progress before signing up for the challenge, to make it easier for your picker.
Well challenge me please. Please again pick games on the shorter side (max. 20h), from either of the following lists. Please choose at least 2 SG wins, need to play some more of those :) When it comes to the noir tag though you will be out of luck since I just finished the last of them for the BLAEO mothly theme a few days ago.
under 8 h
8-15h
15-25h
no HLBT
I’ve beaten or completed 2 out of 5 games last month (and working on 2 more). So that’s not too bad.
I’m doing this! throws herself on sam
- Unhack - HLTB Time: ~1h - SG win
- Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller - HLTB Time: ~18h - bc I still so much like the game… <3
- Life is Strange: Before the Storm - HLTB Time: ~12h - no words needed ;)
- Overlord - HLTB Time: Longer :P - That’s it. I’m just picking SOMETHING! :D
- Oriental Empires - HLTB Time: Short :D
All the times are completionist times. So they’ll be shorter, if you don’t go for 100% :)
Have fun \o/
In case something doesn’t work out… well, you know where I am ;)
You know what to do :) . Please give me whatever you want, just try to choose different genres.
- Life is Strange - HLTB Time: 14-18h
- Cat Quest - HLTB Time: 6-11h
- 1954 Alcatraz - HLTB Time: 5 1/2-7 1/2h, NOIRE theme
- BioShock™ Remastered - HLTB Time: 12-22h
- RiME - HLTB Time: 5 1/2 -10h
Played and enjoyed all of them, except the 1954 Alcatraz one. Hope you’ll enjoy them too :D
A revenge for last month? :D
Give me whatever you want, but please nothing too long. Unfinished games are fine too.
- Grim Fandango Remastered - HLTB Time: 12.5 h - Noire theme. I love this game.
- Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons - HLTB Time: 3,5h - AWESOME game, if you have a pad. If you don’t, I’ll pick something else.
- Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna) - HLTB Time: 3,5h - Steamgift win. Nice platformer.
- One Finger Death Punch - HLTB Time: 10.5h - Great two buttons game - SteamGift win.
- Oxenfree - HLTB Time: 5.5h - Very original kinda adventure game. Weird one.
I have a pad, so it’s fine, thanks a lot for the list!

I’m down for a Challenge Me, haven’t done one of these in quite a while. Shorter games are preferred and games don’t have to be SG wins.
Here’s a list of Noir games I own:
https://www.backlog-assassins.net/lists/4b3kkgd
Lemme know if you’d like anything swapperd out!
- The Swapper - HLTB Time: 5 hrs (SG Win)
- Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Remastered - HLTB Time: 8 hrs (Noir)
- 11-11 Memories Retold - HLTB Time: 5 hrs - Am really interested in this one myself.
- Hacknet - HLTB Time: 6½ Hours
- Rakuen - HLTB Time: 8 hrs - Beautiful game.
Those are some good picks! I’m not that crazy (heh) about Crazy Taxi though, could you swap that one out?
Sure, how about Hacknet?
That sounds good to me
Ah crap, I totally forgot about this D:
It happens. :)
Feeling like taking the challenge again! Unplayed and unfinished are both fine, but nothing already in my Challenge Me list, please.
Reserved finished :3
The Turing Test | 5h |
Forgotton Anne | 8h |
Memory’s Dogma CODE:01 | 9h |
GALAK-Z | 10h |
Tales of Symphonia | 45h |
Many great titles blocked by being in the challenge me list though unplayed, sure you don’t want to try any of these anymore? ;-)
A Hat in Time, Slime Rancher, The Stanley Parable, Unbox
Usually I’d suggest one of my favorite games Kingdom: Classic but saw you played the (essentially) sequel Kingdom: New Lands already a bit, so I kind of felt it isn’t liked all too much and skipped it.
Still, hopefully chose some nice and fitting titles ^^
These are great, thank you!
I have nothing against any of the games I’ve already been challenged, haha! My hang-up is that there are a number of them I was excited to play, enjoyed the bit of time I spent with them, got distracted for one reason or another, and then I subconsciously resist going back to that thing I put down and must finish before I try something new. My solution to this is to bury them in other games I’ve been suggested so I can procrastinate while also accomplishing something. This logic is clearly flawless.
I did debate requesting picks only from my previous challenges, but my desire for a new shiny list to stare at won out. I’ll get to them eventually, honest!
Regarding the old picks you mentioned: I think I went for other games first because I was worried about getting motion sickness. Don’t know when it started, but I thought it was just something that happened with first person games until I got it really bad from Contrast. I did make it through the entire Spyro trilogy without any trouble after the first couple sessions, and it rekindled my love for a solid 3D platformer, so A Hat in Time is definitely looking pretty good…
And I was enjoying Kingdom, I just didn’t know what I was doing! I’ll come back with a fresher mind.
I see, sometimes it’s difficult to get back into previously played game.
Though the few listed are unplayed and sg wins on top of that, I still found 2 to include in the picks but there is not much left from sg to choose from anymore without those ;-)
I get motion sick fairly quick as well, but it depends on the game, older ones are worse, and the fov, setting it higher helps.
And I was enjoying Kingdom, I just didn’t know what I was doing!
In that case you’ll get a bonus pick :D
Kingdom: Classic | 8h |
the classic version is simpler, that might help. It’s essentially about finding out how to properly use what is available, once you get that it becomes easier ^^
I had been thinking of playing Forgotton Anne recently after finishing another game, so I just went ahead and started it for the challenge. I ended up blazing through the whole thing pretty quickly. It’s a lovely game with fun characters and solid writing (nothing groundbreaking, but sometimes you just want something comfy), and the pacing is great. The gameplay is a bit clunky, but it’s not the focus and it isn’t much of a problem once you get used to the flow of your controls. Really enjoyed it.
Also finished Memory’s Dogma. I came in with zero expectations and ended up having a pretty good time. It’s pretty dumb, but it’s a fun dumb that doesn’t waste time with long tedious pages of nothing or too much creepy anime schlock. If it weren’t for the really unpleasant torture scene I’d be open to seeing where this goofy thing was planning on going if they finish their future episodes.
Post here in case of problems
