Another tough week on my personally, but good news! Pokemon Go Gen 2 came out recently... this will put a bit of a hurt on my progress here. The upside is that I will be out getting some exercise. Steamgifts has been great, recently bought the Freedom bundle for everyone else. I think it went pretty well, I also picked up a couple games via winning them. As far as games I have been doing great on my oath to not buy any new games for myself... the only issue will be Horizon Zero Dawn... it looks soooooo good. Bah... guess it has to wait. Hopefully my wife gets some hints and buys it for me... :P
So here is my discussion topic for today... What game in the near future are you most excited for?
# | Game | Achievements | Playtime |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Starward Rogue | 6% (3 of 49) | about 5 hours |
2 | Mars: War Logs | 71% (10 of 14) | about 9 hours |
3 | SteamWorld Heist | 17% (8 of 47) | about 11 hours |
4 | Supraball (closed testing) | 8% (6 of 79) | about 7 hours |
Starward Rogue
Working through this slowly... the roguelike aspect of it makes it great for a quick game if need be or playing as I am watching youtube or something along those lines. I really enjoy this one, it does still have its issues.
Mars: War Logs
I finished this up. It was a very simple and repeative game. I would classify it as competent but not necessarily fun.
SteamWorld Heist
I AM LOVING THIS GAME! It is so much fun, like a 2D Platforming XCOM of sorts. THe progress seems fine so far, I am only in the second section of the game but it is really great. It is so satisfying to have Sally go off and kill like 5-6 enemies in a single turn.
Supraball
Marking this as "Won't Play" because the community is dead and there isn't much for me to do in game. No way to get achievements either...
Well, the game I was most excited about was theHunter: Call of the Wild. But that just released yesterday to not so great user reviews. So now I’m really looking forward to Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III. I’ve played the previous Dawn of War games and thought they were great.
PS. I wish I could stop buying games. I’m doing better but still buy too much.
That is a shame about theHunter: Call of the Wild. I saw it a while ago in closed testing, it seems like something that could be really fun. Maybe it will shape up over time?
Since the developer is presenting this as the next generation of theHunter: Classic I’m hopeful that they will get the bugs fixed sooner rather than later. But, the way they treated the release of theHunter: Primal still leaves doubts. It took them a long time to get Primal stable let alone add the additional content that the said would be included. In any case, I’ll probably get Call of the Wild eventually to see what it’s like for myself.
Another dead MP game…i have my fair share. Not even bundles can bring them back :I
It is really sad… there are so many…
So here is my discussion topic for today… What game in the near future are you most excited for?
Definitely Torment: Tides of Numenera. It releases on 28th of February and I purposefully avoided Early Access aside from the initial run to see how it performs. Which of course means I should push my current update out by then.
That is the Balder’s Gate type of gameish right? Am I mistaking that for something else…
Yeah, it’s an isometric CRPG, but more in the vein on Planescape Torment if you played that one.
I AM LOVING THIS GAME! It is so much fun, like a 2D Platforming XCOM of sorts.
You have no idea how happy that makes me to read that :D
As for game I’m expecting in the near future… Torment is one of them, and also Syberia 3 on April 20 (which is not super near but not too far either)
I am sure you are! Will be getting more into it… we will see how far the rabbit hole goes down.
Syberia series… I don’t know much about it. What is so special about it?
It’s just a series I really love (I haven’t played the 2 first since their original release though, so it might be part nostalgia) mostly because of the steampunkish feeling of the esthetic and in my memory the story was quite interesting. I need to replay them both before april 20 though.
I am amazed Syberia 3 is even happening considering Sokal didn’t go through Kickstarter or alike.
Yes. And to be honest by that point, I was done hoping a sequel will ever happen.
I just started Mars: War Logs today and I hope that we don’t share the same opinion. Since I’ve seen that this is quite a short game, I hope it is short enough so I don’t feel it being repetitive.
What game in the near future are you most excited for?
Since I never buy newly released games and always wait for deep discounts (as I don’t have that much free cash nor a pc strong enough to run them - I only own a laptop and I’m still playing at 720p), I’m not excited for anything special. I do, however, wanna see how the new Zelda will be like and a friend of mine, whose favourite game is Kingdom Hearts, is making me excited for the third game, even though I’ve never (yet) played any game in the series.
Let me know what you think about the game when you get it done!
The new Zelda looks great, but Nintendo seems to be hit or miss these days. What do you think about the Switch? Personally, I think they are competing with themselves and it might bite themselves in the butt. Switch vs 3DS.
I don’t know, I always liked Nintendo and I think they make some great games. Not so sure about their consoles, though. From what I’ve seen, they innovated a lot in games (graphics, gameplay, etc) but now since almost every single game has good graphics and gameplay, they try to innovate somewhere else.. and the only thing left to innovate is the consoles.
What game in the near future are you most excited for?
I wish it will be HL3 but it would be way too optimistic. So tbh none as usual.
What game in the near future are you most excited for?
Well, I guess I’ve got to say Red Dead Redemption 2, probably because it caught my attention early on since the reveal. As usual, I try to disregard the ever-increasing hype, but I do know that I will be excited whenever I get to sit down and boot up the game for the first time. I don’t even have a PS4 yet! :) I sincerely hope Rockstar Games came forward with the sequel because they have another good story to tell and not because they felt pressured to deliver the game for the fans.
I haven’t played the first one, I have heard it is really good though. Next year once my oath(to not buy any games this year) is over, I might pick it up to see what is all about. I don’t think you have to worry too much about it not being good, everything I have seen Rockstar Games produce is great.
I was also late to the party as I played RDR for the first time last year. I loved exploring the quiet western landscape accompanied by a mellow harmonica on the background, it’s really atmospheric. The original game suffers a bit from console hardware limitations, the framerate is choppy but it isn’t a big issue. The sequel will most likely see a big improvement in graphics, it will be interesting to see how it looks. :)
Styx: Shards of Darkness. I’m trembling and shaking in extreme excitement and anticipation. I rarely get hyped for games but this one… Oh this one is so special!
Is it because you like the original or is there some feature you are looking forward too?
I loved the first game. Very old school and no hand-holding type of stealth gameplay. Many recent stealth games aren’t that bold, they always give a way out if someone gets stuck whether it be tons of weapons you can kill with or hundreds of super powers to help you. It is not like that with Styx. It has that sweet feeling of playing a better looking version of classic Thief games. I hope the 2nd game will be even better.
