Report: March 2019
My precious month is behind us and my fight with backlog seems like it’s going well. :)
No actual progress on my ABC challenge was made. But I have accomplished 15% of completed SG wins! And that made me happy. :D
So, as I stated already, I got lured into playing Mass Effect again. Well, from the banner you can see that I have nailed this challenge! XD I had to install it on my newest PC, so when I took the disc I thought about trying the key on Origin (I am certain that I have tried it some year or two ago!) and it worked!! I am so happy, now I have them all! :D You can read more in the report (I am referring it to Steam even though I have played it on Origin). ;)
Enough of small talks and now to the actual assassinations! Good luck in new month and have a good time everyone!
Walking simulator with horror feeling to it. You just need to collect journals to uncover the story which is inspired by true events, but spiced up with supernatural. You have map, compass and flashligt; with just that you find yourself surrounded by snow in inhospitable mountains. You are endangered by your wrong steps, orange mist and some powerful entity. That's all, no frozing to death, dying from hunger or being eaten by wolf. All you need to do is watch your step and run away when needed, oh but you can't run for too long in deep snow or you will get tired. And that entity, well, let's just say that it can be pretty retarded. XD
I believe that Kholat is a good game. Great visuals and music is developing the atmosphere nicely, as is reading through journal pages and notes. Do not forget our main voice actor Sean Bean! To progress the story you need main journal pages (others are optional) and at each of their location something special happens, it's very cool and with eerie touch!! Even with all this the game feels... I don't know, somehow empty? The true ending is so weird and left more questions than the normal one. Game offers no replayability - just when you need all of the achievements. I have enjoyed it, but I have also quickly let it out of my mind.
Probably my first "walking simulator" I have played. And I liked it. The game has great visulas and is working flawlessly. The premise is very interesting, and it's a bit of shame that the ending is somewhat a cliffhanger. I would love to know more!
Most players seems like hating the "cat" part. Well, for me it was fun. I see why they don't like it, but I can understand why it was created so too. And you know, me cat-lover, I can't hate cute little kitten! <3
Oh, and I must mention great Androids, they were well written and I have enjoyed their different personalities and attitudes.
Nice little survival game about being Lost in Woods (probably for second time)! You need to survive until you find the exit from the woods. You have to harvest food to eat properly, also don't forget to drink or sleep regularly. As you gather more resources you can build new things which helps in your survival and in fighting mighty bosses. In addition you can choose if you got lost during summer or winter. ;)
Overall I have enjoyed my time in Woods.
I think that about Mass Effect was written enough of reviews and I can't add anything new to it. ;)
This was mine sixth playthrough. Because it was a clear install I have played on Veteran difficulty, sadly without any achievement opened which gives you those sweet bonuses. I have of course completed both Pinnacle station and Bring down the sky mission. All my stats you see on the panel are for this run only! I think I could have been even more quicker and end it under 40 hours, but due to my own impatience I got stuck few times - I wanted to complete Ahern's mission too soon, also I have made Feros three times because of low Paragon points and had to load up. XD
These are mine complete stats: playtime - over 400 hours; achievements - 40 / 49. (I still need to play as Vanguard and pure Soldier, oh well, that's me playing always as Infiltrator XD)
I love this game. It's perfect, everything on it is perfect - story, characters, combat, locations; even after so many playthroughs (yeah, exploring the planets can get a little bit repetitive and clothing up squadmates overwhelming XD)!
No surprise that I have jumped right on the sequel. ;) This screenshot perfectly reflect my feelings about me completing the game and kicking up Sovereign ass! XD
I am still working on my hunt for achievements. I was able to do speedrun under 20 hours with 100% completion. Now I think that doing it under 10 hours is possible, but I still have doubts about the 5 hours limit. ^^ I have defeated Nightmare King Grimm and also come victorious from Sage Pantheon. I am currently preparing for the 4th Pantheon, for which I fight White Defender. My score is 3 from 5. Other than that I am still aiming for 112% completion and as I let Zote to die it could be doable. We will see. ;)
I have heard so much about this game, so I wanted to try it during Popularity contest theme here. And well, how to say it, I was rather disappointed. I am not sure what everyone see in it... I will slowly play it and sees if I grow to enjoy it more, maybe I am just too much overjoyed with Hollow Knight now.

This month I have added 2 SG wins (thank you! <3), 1 gift and 6 games! I couldn't resist the sale on Origin and got some more games there too. :3
- Alice: Madness Returns
- The Saboteur
- Star Wars Battlefront
- Star Wars Battlefront 2
Dark Souls is an amazing game, but it’s definitely not for everyone. The prepare to die edition is old and clunky, but there is a mod that solves most issues, especially low quality texture and all the fps bugs. If it’s your first souls game, I recommend following a guide.
Some other tips:
1) if you’re having problem with a boss, use a humanity stone. You’ll be able to reverse the hollowing and summon NPCs/Players to help you. It’s basically easy mode.
2) If you’re too weak, go farm some souls. One of the first good spots is the dragon on the bridge. Wait for spit fire and kill all enemies. Go to a bonfire and repeat this some 30 times. You’ll get a LOT of exp making the game easier as well. (You can also grab the dragon sword - the best early game sword, by shooting its tail)
3) It’s important to understand your stats and which equipament gets the most out of them. If you’re a heavy melee character it’s important to reach 40 str asap, later grabing some vitality + endurance, for example. A wrong build can kill a playthrough since you can’t reset in DS1.
4) Upgrading your weapon is REALLY important. Finding a weapon that scales well with your primary attribute is a must if you wanna finish this game. An F class weapon won’t get more dmg as you get stronger, but an A class will increase your dmg by 80% of its main attribute. That makes a big difference in the late game, when hitting for 50, instead of 200 will get you killed.
I think these 4 tips are enough to get you through the game. If you need more help, let me know. Dark Souls is my favorite action game. I’ve played it 3,5 times. xD
Thank you for your insight! :)
I have installed some mod. Graphic looks better for sure, but it was supposed to resolve problems with mouse and keyboard, but for that there is needed one fix, which can’t be downloaded anymore. XD Even without it I have no problems using mouse and keyboard. ;)
I think I have imagioned something little bit different. I thought that it was about fighting the bosses - just them and not about going through the same path with hordes of respawned enemies again and again until I figure how to kill him. I have no problem with leveling up or practicing my skills…. but I find this rather boring.
Back to the fight - I thought that the boss would have some combo and I would need to learn it to surpass him… I fell it’s more about overpowering him and finding a way to exploit him - like running on top of tower and jumping on his back few times to kill him… that’s it, the great challenging fighting system? The fight itself seem a bit unresponsive and slow paced to me, I see that enemy is doing an attack but I can’t stop doing my own, so I get killed
1) so I don’t need to summon real players just NPCs? First time I see this. O.O I don’t play multiplayer games as I fear others soo much. Also I have read that they can spawn in your game and kill you - that is not really my idea of fun.
2) I farm too much for my taste. ;)
3) I am playing as Pyromancer, currently with just one spell, which is quite limiting. The boss I am fightining now has very long reach and I can’t evade him, so I need shield to block it at least, but you know, I am Pyromancer I can’t be fighting with shield. XD
4) I still have the gear from the very beggining, I think? I have met one undead merchant, but when comparing thehm his stats were worse. Or am I missing something?
Thank you for your advices, I hope I don’t sound too harsh. ;)
I was really hyped to play Dark Souls, I am not sure if I waited for them too long.
I honestly don’t even know how you’re playing with Kb/M. This game was designed to be played with a controller. Kb/M is just an added layer of difficulty imo. xD
Some fights are quite dumb and exploitable, like the Taurus Demon or Ceaseless Discharge (yes, this is the name of a boss), but others are quite well planned and executed, like Smough and Ornstein or Crossbreed Priscilla. The quality of the bosses moveset/skills improved a lot from game to game, DS3 having the most unique and fun bosses imo.
1) When you’re in human form (just look at your face, if it’s not hollow, you’re in human form. You lose humanity every time you die) you can summon players/npcs and other people can invade your world. Invasions are quite rare and you can use an item to stop them. Summoning is Dark Souls “easy mode” usually near the bosses entrance there is a npc summon sign. Player signs are always near bonfires close to hard bosses. Every time a player is summoned and help someone defeat a boss, it lowers all requirements to join covenants, so a bunch of people do that a lot to unlock achievements. You need to be human in order to see these signs.
3) Pyro wasn’t supposed to be a single class, but a side class in DS1. Pyro spells don’t scale with attributes, even intelligence. To get better spells, you just need to buy them, so most combine them with other classes (usually DEX classes for lower cast time, since the gloves scales with DEX). They fixed this design flaw in later games, but DS1 is still like that. For example, my last run I was running a pure dex Wanderer build + pyro for ranged combat.
4) You’ll find the blacksmith when you reach the Cathedral. Instead of going inside, turn the other way and follow a path to find him downstairs. It’s important to upgrade your main weapon using titanite shards.
Dark Souls is one of those games that some people love, while others hate. Don’t force yourself to finish, if you’re not enjoying it. A game must be a fun experience, not a chore. :)
Haha, I can’t use anything else. XD I play everything with it, even the Hollow Knight. :3 I have used controller once and it was a disaster, I don’t understand how can someone have quick precise reaction with that. ;)
I believe that there would be some nice challenging bosses. I think I am not in the right mood now. ;)
1) still too much dangerous for me to use it. XD
3) I have noticed that the one spell I have for now, is rather short ranged and I need to come close to them and I can’t attack them from far away - or am I doing something wrong? For long ranged attack I can use only bow/crossbow? And I need to buy arrows or can I find them too?
4) First to find the Cathedral. XD Sometimes I am not even sure where I am. XD
It’s too soon for me to decide, I will give it serious try as I have no habit of abandoning games much. ;)
If you die to a boss, use a humanity stone, reverse hollowig at the bonfire and run to the boss. 90% of the time there will be a npc summon sign before the fog door. (or some player signs near the bonfire)
You need to buy better spells. IIRC, most pyro spells are bought in Blighttown, which is the place you go after ringing the first bell in the Cathedral. The second bell is in Blighttown. You should be at Undead Burg, if you killed the Taurus Demon. A big bridge with a dragon on top. (If you haven’t yet, damage his tail with arrows/spells to drop the drake sword. A one-handed sword that does 200 dmg per attack. You just need 16 str to use it.) here’s a guide
I played this game 3.5 because I quit the first. It was only much later that I decided to give this game a second chance and fell in love with it.
CAT Interstellar is right at the top of my to-play list. Nice to hear that it’s enjoyable and easy to complete.
I had to play some chapters again for completing the achievements, so it’s really quick game. ;)
Like this it feels as a demo or some teaser, but it has a big potential. Would be great to see the creator working on it in the future. :)
I played it when it was in EA and unfinished, and before achievements. If it’s 2.4h to 100% completion is it really that short? Did you use a guide for one/some/most achievements? Just trying to get a handle on playtime.
I have noticed some talks about different disposition of laboratory and improvement of cat movements. So there were probably some little changes, but I think it wasn’t significant.
On the first run I missed three/four achievements I think. For that I have started just the needed chapter. I ahve used guide for just one achievement.
It’s safe to say that it’s really that short. ;)
Just seeing Garrus on the timeline makes me wanna replay mass effect, I should dust off the 360 and replay the trilogy. It’s been a while now (since the release of ME 3 actually). Never tried Andromeda because of all that was said about it after release, I wonder if it’s still a buggy mess or if they fixed it.
That’s exactly where we are now. In the middle of calibration. XD
I have played Andromeda right from the first day. The graphics are amazing! I love the universe, just to fly from one planet to another it’s so beautiful (this was very much criticized for taking too long - I don’t really understand why as it wasn’t any longer than standart loading, so now it’s possible to skip those scenes completely… waste) Main planets are different and very good looking, oh I love riding in Mako (which you can customize!)
BUT! I still have not completed it. I think I got distracted by Witcher 3 or just can’t remember anymore.
I believe that the cause (for me) would be lack of interesting squadmates… they are good, funny… but they are not my Normandy crew. Also no Garrus.
After completing the main trilogy I will jump to Andromeda, I am not that far from the end anyway (well, this is my big problem in many games, as I have tendency of quiting the game right before the end and then starting a new…)
I don’t know much about bugs as I have not encountered any, my playthrough was smooth. I know that they have added more customization options and so. But no game breaking bug for me. ;)
I still have bad memories from the Mako sequences in Mass Effect 1. Hopefully that means they’ve improved the experience. No Garrus (and no Shep) was another point that killed my interest at release but I might try to find a key at some point on sale and give it a try finally.
What’s wrong with Mako :sob:
OMG that gif O.O I might change my view on the mako, indeed.
Poor Mako, you should give him a second chance. ;)
But… isn’t it Sarren? o.O
I could be wrong, but it really looks not like Garrus. Bc if it was Garrus, I would have been even more excited :D
After a second look, you’re totally right. I was still disturbed by this news
O.O
That….what…I… what the hell is that?!?!?!?! O.O
A pillow case to recalibrate all your dreams.
I wasn’t sure if I should have pointed Saren out. XD
I feared that you would get heart attack if there was Garrus, so I was caring about your health. ;D
Yeah, well Garrus makes us feel all… woozy <3
Oh.My. Goddess!!!
You…. you just killed me. XD
I swear I have screamed! XD
Thihihi!
This is a good death! <3
What… is… happening… O.O
CALIBRATING! <3
HAHAHA HELL YEA HOLY SHIT
I know, everyone else already said it, but ME is just soooo good. Ah, the memories!
Other than that, the Anton Sokolov screenshot is really beautiful! Or did I already write that in another review of yours? Anyhow, I’m sure I’ll write it sometime again in the future because I forgot about this post right here :)
You meant: “soooooo perfect”! ;D
Haha, yes I believe so. Or there is more of VitoStippkow?! o.O It’s okay, I am so happy you like it, it makes me proud. XD
So don’t stop and remind me anytime you want. ;D
Thank you. :3
I recently tried to decide whether to play Bioshock, Mass Effect, or a few other games with some extra playtime last month. I chose Bioshock, and now I remember why I’m so loathe to play FPS RPGs…they take me forever because I’m chickensh*t and don’t want to miss anything. I have the same fear about Mass Effect. Also, where are you getting the achievements from? The store page doesn’t list any.
Bioshock is great choice! ;) I have suggested Mass Effect as I was playing it that time. X)
I have to get everything too! Even playing it again won’t stop me from getting all journals, quests and so. ;) My first ever playthrough of Mass Effect took me over 70 hours, but that time I was playing on weaker PC too.
I have counted them in game menu - you have there achievement list. ;)
Those opened are for one clear playthrough, remaining ones are for different weapons and powers and squadmates, so you have to play it few times. :)
Mass Effect makes me so nostalgic… I’m definitely going to try to play it again in 2020
Why in 2020? o.O
Why not now? O.o
I think NOW is the best time for Mass Effect! :D
Ha! 2020 is the year I go back and replay/rewatch/reread things I’ve read in the past and loved. After all, they say hindsight is 2020 c;
I had to look up the phrase and it’s really fitting! ;)
Okay, I will await your Mass Effect replay! :D
MASS EFFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! jumps around excitedly <3
Haha, that’s so cute reaction. :D
<3
