June’s Stats
aka. Slow progress but it’s alright.
Hello fellow assassins, how has your June been? I can’t believe we’re already halfway through 2018. I guess it was even more a shock than any other years because we basically had no spring here. It went from being cold and rainy til the middle of June to suddenly summer hot in less than a week.
I didn’t finish a lot of games this month, mostly because I went back to Terraria and played quite a lot of it. Then on the last week of June I went to visit the GF and did zero gaming at all. At least I didn’t add many games to the backlog, and so far bought nothing during the steam sale (but it’s not over yet). I did have a moment of panic after some issues I had with the humble support and activated 2 of the games from the last monthly that I would probably kept unactivated for now, but oh well. That being said, for once i’m not too upset the backlog got a short victory, as I’m still happy with what I did and I enjoyed what I played. We’ll see how July goes.
What about you guys? What are your plans for the summer (or winter if you’re in the south hemisphere)? More time for gaming or more time for RL stuff?

ABC Challenge Progress (22/26)
Finished this month: 0 (SHAME!)I went back to Dishonored to play the DLCs before moving to the second game. I only played the two story DLCs and left aside the one that is just challenges as I wasn't really in the mood for that. Both of them put you in the place of Daud instead of Corvo, and let you see his quest for redemption. They happen in parallel of the main story. The first one, The Knife of Dunwall starts right after you kill the empress. The Outsider sends you on the trails of a mysterious woman. The second, The Brigmore Witches continues the story directly after the first one, so you should play them in order. I went for both clean hands (no kill) and ghost (no detection) as in my last playthrough of the main game and had a lot of fun. I loved seeing Daud's side of the story and the whole thing being tied to the main story in different ways. Definitely one of the best quality DLCs I've played and well worth playing if you liked Dishonored. Can't wait to play the next game.
This little indie title has been on my wishlist for a while when I won it on SG but it even exceeded my expectations. Sure it's not very long, but if you like PnCs and things like Twin Peaks or the X-files, this game is definitely for you. You play as Detective McQueen, member of the Darkside investigation department (basically all things paranormal) in seven different cases. The whole thing is full of references and humour, all wrapped in a nice pixel art style. I really had so much fun with it and I wished there was more. Hopefully the devs will sell enough copies to start working on a sequel. Strong recommend.
Nothing mind blowing in this HoG, but it fills it role and it does it pretty well. Don't let the fact that it's really cheap or was quickly bundled fool you, it's actually on the Artifex level of HoG. Classic HoG story, puzzles and HoG scenes, but good quality ones. Not the best ever but also nothing to be shy about.
I finally got around to play Last Day of June... on the last day of June (yes, a little for the meme). I'm a bit torn about this game. On one side, I loved the art style, found the story very bittersweet but still nice, but one of gameplay mecanic (or should I say lack of one feature) made me cringe a little. Without spoiling the story, part of the gameplay relies on replaying some scenes over and sadly, there is no way to skip cutscenes you have already seen. For one, it feels like they try to inflate the already short lenght of the game, but more annoyingly, it gets tedious to get through an otherwise really cool concept. I'm still happy I played it and recommend it if you can get over that missing feature.
Trying to pass driving exam and find work in my field D:
We also skipped spring this year. It was cold and rainy in March (was still wearing winter jacket), and in April we had 20C and I was walking around in T-shirts >_>
How is “making SG great again” not in your list? :aaaaa: Best of luck with your plans though.
This year the weather was crazy. While the south of Europe kept being flooded the north was super hot and dry. It’s been so weird.
Making SG great again is constant point when I’m bored with interacting with other people, bored with reading internetz, or bored with myself. So I just sit, check, ban, check, ban, check, do aww on super cute bird avatar for an hour or two D:
HAHA! My Wife and I also played through Last day of June… yesterday. It just seemed too perfect to ignore, amiright?
I agree with your sentiment on it, it was a nice idea and we enjoyed it, but being able to skip through scenes you’d already seen would have helped a lot just to make experimenting easier.
I feel like it was so appropriate a lot of people did.
It is sad that they didn’t give that option (or to switch between characters on the go) or it would have been a game I’d have warmly recommended.
Always jealous of your format and tempted to steal some of it… but I need to force myself to learn and practice these sorts of things too.
Glad you enjoyed the DLC’s for Dishonored. I finished them not long ago myself and loved the variation of powers and story for Daud. The slowdown and blink combo was neat! Still need to clean up the achievements though…
Your willpower is greater then mine. I told myself I would only buy a little from the steam sale, but then that little soon started to become quite a bit more than planned… R.I.P. my wallet :’ )
Summer and Summer plans could be better, mostly because it’s hot and the functions of work have been crazy. Just want the school year can start, so I can graduate and move onto my career, but I digress. Hopefully I can finally make a bunch of progress on SG wins, and my backlog in general to make up for all the games I bought during the sale. Sounds like your Summer is going well enough so far, hope it continues and gets even better. As always a solid post, and look forward to seeing more~ ^_^
Feel free to steal all the code you need (and modify it as it suits you), I didn’t write it all myself either, I kept modifying it til I found a format I liked and then keep using the same template every month more or less.
The slowdown + blink combo was really great indeed. Actually even a bit overpowered when you have both at max. I’ll go back to both the base game and the DLCs at some point in the future for a high chaos run and get all the cheevos related to killing methods in the process. But for now, onto the second one :3
The sales are not over yet, so I might cave in before it ends. It was easy to not buy anything because i was away from home and barely on the PC to be honest. What did you get yourself ?
Heat is the common doom factor it seems. It’s that time of the year again where I wanna stay locked in the semi dark all day. I hope you have a great summer despite the workload.
A bunch of different games, but the ones worth noting:
Life is Strange: Before the Storm
Beat Saber (Not on sale, but was looking for a reason to finally get this)
Beyond Good and Evil
Hitman (the latest reboot)
Prince of Persia (reboot)
Final Fantasy XV: Windows Edition
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice
Devil May Cry HD Collection (as if I didn’t own enough copies of these games)
and Bullet Witch (Because I don’t know why they would port this trash game, but I love it anyways.)
Just to name a few… the rest are mostly VN trash :3
Wow that sounds like a great selection! At least you’re gonna have a lot of hours of fun.
Thanks for the comment on Dishonored DLCs. I showed it to Tib.
Thanks to you for getting me back to it. It was really worth it. How does he live with you yet has not played all the Arkane stuff?
My girlfriend gifted me Darkside Detective during the sale because she thought it seemed cool - I’m thrilled that you liked it a great deal! I’m very excited for it, too.
I know I want to start FF12 sometime soon, but once I do that’ll be It for quite a while. I might sneak in a few shorter games… and maybe Darkside Detective is one of them!
If you like the mentioned tv shows you should like it. It was really enjoyable. I just wanted more of it when i was done.
I need to go back to FF12, I’ve left it aside after a few hours for other games because i was reading too many guides to min max it, which kept making me postpone actually replaying it. Enjoy!
Dishonored’s always been dope for me as well. Also, I’ve been wanting Last Day of June, so it’s cool to see that it’s not that bad. Though the cutscene issue might start to annoy me.
Also, I’m pretty bad with this whole formatting thing. Do you by any chance have a template for what you did? The Stats; Highlights; Wins and so on, where they’re basically separate categories? If not, that’s fine.
Anyways, an awesome post. 3 games in a month isn’t slow progress for me, but who am I to say, right? :D
On the plus side, Last day of June is not that long that you can’t overlook the repetitive cutscene. It’s just that it feels a bit uncessary, you know? If the game had been longer it would have been really unbearable.
Thanks for the compliment. I do have a template, basically I used the one Akantha shared on her profile (Paperclip section > Tab Layout). If you need more help don’t hesitate to ask.
Already made my monthly post, but thanks anyways. I’ll gladly mess around with it when making my next post. Thank you :)
Greetings Rainbowcoloured sheep,
the Darkside Detective looks like it would be fun. I marked it for later if it is maybe a bit cheaper. Could need some slower and entertaining game for the moment. Can’t motivate me currently to play much new. So I try to somehow convince me to go after some of my unfinished buisness. Didn’t work out so far :P
Greetings Adelion :3
Since you were the one recommending me Why am I dead at sea back then, I think you’d actually enjoy The darkside detective :)
If you need slower, you should try Sunless sea that is in your backlog. It had a lot of reading and a bit of a slow pace but it was enjoyable. Sometimes we just have a blank pass in our gaming motivation, it can happen. Don’t worry it will come back eventually :3
Hm, I think I found something to play which will keep me for some time. But first I will use Canada and America Day next week to get achievements which are availbale only once a year >.< And it seems I nearly missed the first one O.o God, that time window is to narrow.
Maybe I will buy the DLC then in the sale.
Ugh I hate those kind of cheevos. Be busy on said day and you have to wait a whole year to get it “regularly”. Wasn’t Canada day yesterday though? Or is it today?
It was yesterday but I only need the character. So I have a save game and should be able to do it today. Well, actually I missed it by an hour after german time. But screw it. Im not waiting a whole year. Technically it was still Canada Day somewhere on Earth, like Canada for example. So it is okay >.<
All good! I hope you manage to get those 2 elusive cheevos.
I’ve yet to play The DLC for D1 and lost intrest in it partway through a second playthrough…but I’m enjoying myself in dishonored 2 (I prefer letal ghost cause I played through dishonored 1 with clean hands and ghost but fucked up the ghost cause of the tutorial and replaying was a huge pain.
managing to keep ghost for d2 though.
ouuu yes I want to play the darkside detective I noticed in on SG and its been something I enter whenever I see it pop up (rarely)
I thought i had fucked up clean hands in the tutorial of my last playthrough but I still kept going with killing nobody and was so excited when the achievement unlocked at the very end. Can’t wait to play Dishonored 2 :3
also terraria <3 for one of my favorite games- are you trying to 100% it?
<3
I guess eventually I’ll 100% it but I’m not actively going for any cheevos at the moment, just building myself a nice village and slowly going up the whole thing again. (I forgot how tedious it is to move and dig with a new character) Technically I should have all the cheevos already because I did all those things in previous playthrough, but it was before the achievements were added to the game >___>
Summer’s (or more accurately, hot dry season) already over in my country. Fortunately. I can now play graphically demanding games without worrying about my PC becoming too hot. Unfortunately, my crappy internet connection becomes a lot crappier when it’s raining. RL is the same for now but there might be some changes soon-ish. Might have less time for games if those changes will push through, or not. I don’t mind either way.
Sale will end soon and I’m still failing to find games to buy. Find something that looks interesting, look for more info and find a deal-breaker (usually when I find out that it’s in first person, I see “survival,” “multiplayer,” huge download size), click “not interested,” rinse and repeat. Well, it’s not a complete failure since I bought Alphabear. No idea when I’ll get around to playing it though.
June was ok. Still playing Dragon Age: Inquisition. I wouldn’t call it mind-blowing but I think I like it more than Dragon Age: Origins.
The high heat just started here and my laptop is burning, I’m worried it won’t pass the summer. I feel for you for the crappy internet. I still have problems with mine too and it can be a pain to be constantly disconnected.
Haven’t added anything to my wishlist or got anything from the sales either so far. I saw you bought Alphabear, I use to have it on my phone and it was a pretty fun word game.
Your words about DAI makes me want to finally come around to play it. I have a copy of it on origin but I’m always reluctant on using yet another game launcher. I loved DA:O but DA 2 totally demotivated me :/
One reason why I hesitated buying DAI was because of DA2. I wasn’t even able to go past the part after the tutorial. Add to that people saying that DAI is trash. I didn’t have anything new to play so I bought the GOTY version during the recent sale. Came in with very low expectations. I almost asked for a refund because combat felt clunky at first (I just came from NieR:Automata and I played DAI like a hack and slash on casual difficulty). If it weren’t for my addiction to taking screenshots, I probably would have asked for a refund. :p
I really can’t tell if you’ll like it. I’ve read some people hate the game for the things I liked. And I hated some stuff that others seemed to like. Hmm… maybe I like it because it’s more action-y than DA:O and as I mentioned, nice graphics. As long as you stick to the main story and skip the filler quests and collectibles, it’s decent. I have some… er, more than “some” complaints about DAI, ranging from wonky animations and armor designs to issues with the story, but it’s enjoyable enough for me. It’s far from perfect, but also far from being trash.
At least you totally reassure me about giving a try to inquisition. DA 2 was such a disappointment to say the least.
“instead of Corvo” Hehe. :D
You got Moonlighter? How was it? Saw it from discovery queue the other day. Seems cool. :3
Planning on playing more games in summer vacation~
Moonlighter is pretty good so far, I can’t wait to play more of it. I was very hyped for it all through its development. I’ve always wanted another Recettear type of game but until now they all failed to scratch that itch. It seems like Moonlighter is finally what i was looking for.
Dishonored is probably one of the only games I’ve ever spoiled for myself by watching a let’s play. I was too far into the videos before I realised I would have probably really enjoyed playing it myself. I’ll have to blame the video maker on that one, he was too entertaining! Didn’t make the same mistake with the second game though, just finished playing that yesterday!
Dishonored is one of the rare games I’ve played several times and still enjoyed every time. I’m about to start the second game at some point this month and I’ve managed to stay mostly unspoiled (all i know is you can play as either Corvo or Emily). Congrats on finishing it yourself :)
Thanks! I’m like that too with a lot of games, being able to play them only once. Especially games were you level up your character to a skill tree or make important decisions at some point in the game. It never feels the same going back and doing it again differently, like cheating on your original playthrough or something! XD
I really love those two DLCs in Dishonored. They are as good as the base game if not better. I find Daud quite interesting though he lost his charm for me in Death of the Outsider.
That’s what matters in the end.
I hate summer. It’s just the same old “work + play games + read books” plan for me as always.
They were really great! It was my first time playing them as I didn’t have them on the 360, and I was pleased (i was gonna say surprised but not really, it’s arkane) of how good it was. I’ll probably go with Dishonored 2 + Death of the Outsider this month if I have enough time.
I hate summer too, I enjoyed the first few days of hot weather because we hadn’t had a day without rain since mid april, and it was a bit depressing, but after that I started complaining about the heat already. Your plans sounds pretty similar to mine really, just took a week off to go visit GF, and that’s pretty much gonna be it til september most likely. Not that I like taking holidays when the kids are off school, everywhere is packed with tourists and like you said, the heat.
Playing anything good lately or you’re still stuck on Euro truck ?
I have 2 grindy achievements left in ETS 2 but I made good progress on both. I took a break from it to play the games I purchased during the sale: Little Hidden City, Placement, SOMA and now playing Gorogoa currently. I finished SOMA just yesterday and it was an amazing experience. After I’m done with Gorogoa I’ll go back to ETS 2 to finish my completion and then Jurassic World Evolution hopefully.
Have fun and enjoy your time off with the girlfriend.
That sounds great, congrats on the progress AND on the new games. If you manage to finish Gorogoa before the end of the sale, please lemme know (feel free to ping me on discord), I almost bought it the other day and I’m still on the edge to buy something during the sales. It really seems interesting.
Thanks a lot. I’m already back sadly, came home Friday evening :( - But we had a really great time so it’s okay, and I got a really needed break from everyday life’s BS.
Yea everybody needs a break from everyday life’s BS for sure.
Gorogoa seems to be a very unique puzzle game and I like anything unique. I’m enjoying it but I kinda got stuck in chapter 4 so I’m a bit struggling at the moment so I took a very brief break. I think the game is definitely worthy of support though. I don’t regret buying it at all. I had What Remains of Edith Finch already so I got an extra discount on the Gorogoa + Edith Finch bundle. Buying Gorogoa alone instead of the bundle would cost a little more so I went with the bundle.
I’ve never purchased this many games during a sale before. I’m doing really really good job wise (hope this continues) so I feel like rewarding myself a little bit. I also don’t abandon my “don’t buy unless you will immediately play it” principle so I already finished all 3 games out of 4 I bought and I’m working on the 4th one as I type this reply. If I couldn’t get around to those games immediately I would have still waited.
There are a few more games I wanna get but oh well, I can wait for them. I’ve already outdone myself :P
Oh, I didn’t know there was a bundle and I already have Edith Finch so thanks for the info. It really looks unique I might cave in and get it, anyway i didn’t buy anything during the sales.
And congrats on treating yourself. You worked hard for it so you deserve it :3
