October’s Stats
aka. Not too shaby
The month’s been busy IRL but I still found time to game quite a lot (not sleeping much has been helping with the backlog). I finally came around to play the excellent Return of the Obra Dinn as well as the sequel to Kona and got myself addicted with Apico. I hope you’re all doing well, stay safe. Happy November!

20/23 Challenge Progress (19/23)
Finished this month: 3Oh my, Kona has a sequel already? I still didn’t manage to grab the first game. ^^’
Also, your banner image is very cute! :3
It does, and it’s pretty good. It picks up exactly where the first game finishes and continues/concludes the story so I’d suggest playing the first one first so you don’t miss some of the lore. It’s still on sale right now for pretty cheap (and probably will be again at the winter sale).
Thanks, it’s from the starting screen of Moonstone Island :)
I think you might be the reason I got recommended APICO by Steam today and oh god. I think I’m obsessed. It’s so hard to stop playing it!
 Not sure if to say I’m happy or sorry I got you addicted. It is pretty good though, once you pass the initial “this game is too complicated there is so much things to learn”. I’m playing it in coop with my other half and it’s both overwhelming (with the amount of things to do) and super chill.
I’m at 10 hours now and I still feel like there’s too much to learn…I didn’t even get to understanding how butterfly and fishing mechanics work… It’s a lot. How’s the co-op? Any fun?
I’m both happy and sorry. It’s a lot of fun but I need to be doing other things, not playing a beekeeping game obsessively.
The coop is really nice, pretty much same as the single player but you share the progress and since there is so many stuff to do, well it helps share the tasks. If it makes you feel better we’re 24h in and we still don’t know how to fish and are barely understanding how to get other butterflies than the basic ones.
Yeah, I think it would be much easier in that case! I played the first 10 hours kind of random, just doing things here and there and hoping it works. Now I’m trying to be more targeted and focus on certain tasks instead! I’m not sure how the butterflies work either … but I figured out how to fish just yesterday. Now I’m trying to save the coral reefs because I’m tired of trying to crossbreed bees and failing at it.
I saved the coral reef a few days ago (so probably when you wrote this comment, sorry i didn’t see it before) and it was SO SATISFYING. I also think focusing on one goal at the time (or a few of them that are similar) is the best way to progress since the game is so dense.
Yeah, I enjoyed saving the reefs! Now trying to figure out underwater beekeeping, which is proving to be time consuming. Oops
And the sheer amount of tasks is dizzying
I feel you <3
Congratulations on all of your assassinations! Never heard of Kona and I’m looking forward to your review about it! I’m worried about the sled dogs though in the trailer, the game doesn’t look like one that will have a happy ending.
Thank you! Look Kona 2 was really good. I had loved the first one and this one picks up directly where the other ended, expands on the concept and has a bit more variety. To me it corrected certain flaws of the first one (ok it’s not perfect either but for a small studio it’s pretty great). Oh and most important, it concludes the story AND you can pet the sled dogs :3
I won’t tell you anything about the ending, I don’t wanna spoil it for you though. If you don’t have the first one, I’d recommend getting it first. Not completely mandatory but you’d miss a good part of the references since the story is just a continuation. It was pretty cheap during the sale that ended yesterday so I’m sure it’ll be again during the xmas one.
I see someone’s taking this literally…
Ahahaha. Well pretty much what my body decided to do on its own, so yes. :D
As long as it doesn’t persist! I was afraid you’d say you’ve got chronic sleep issues for a second there ;_;
I kinda do but it comes and go, and I have learned to live with it instead of stressing about it. I use this time for stuff like reading or gaming instead of wasting 2 hours awake in bed overthinking about the fact that I can’t sleep. It’s not that bad anymore and eventually when I’m tired enough my body reboots itself with a long full night of sleep. ^_^
The perfect outcome!
