Do I have to participate in this month’s theme?
No, as with every theme, these are merely suggestions for anyone who is unsure about what to play next. If you already have a battle plan for your backlog and/or don’t like this month’s theme, you’re free to ignore it.
What happens if I don’t participate in the monthly theme?
Nothing.
What happens if I play all of my unfinished games this month?
Your backlog will be a much smaller place.

Edit: Was not having fun with my first pick so I changed it mid-month.
That’s convenient as I was planning to play Paradigm next after someone played it recently and told me how funny they found it. I’ll try to think of a couple more games and edit this later.
If anyone needs suggestions, I would recommend Stick it to The Man!, it’s one of the funniest games I’ve played.

Hopefully I’m not being too ambitions.
So, I own Bard’s Tale Zenith which I played for a couple of minutes a while ago and couldn’t really get into it. (That game was Zenith, not Bard’s Tale. Haven’t played Bard’s Tale before.) I also own Deponia, which I’m not sure if it’ll hold my attention long enough for me to finish it. Let’s see if I can beat those games this month. Looking forward to playing Darkside Detective, though!

Actually (:D) I managed to beat Bard’s Tale and I’m almost done with Zenith. Just haven’t updated the table yet :D

How did you like Bard’s Tale? I backed it on KS but ofc haven’t played it yet. Was at least waiting for patches, etc…and of course a free 100 hours lying around. :p

Thanks :) But the achievs were easy - most of them are earned by progressing with the story :) Even the “collectibles” were fairly easy to find, which I personally liked. Although I did use a guide to check if I got everything before moving on.
How was Zenith? I’m considering it for this month, although I won’t finish it by the end of the month.
How loud/annoying was the music? I heard you can’t turn it down (and ofc if you turn your speakers down, you can’t hear dialog / sfx).
What about the achievements– did they change it so that you don’t have to break all the barrels in one sitting? It looks like you went back and got the 100 barrels one after finishing the game. What about the “defeat 500 enemies” achievement? Was that also in one sitting, or did they change it? And how about the combat? A lot of running around and kiting? Was it fun?

I think Zenith is a beautiful and genuinelly amusing game, but I personally hated the combat. It was quite difficult, especially in the early parts of the game. Holding up your shield drains mana (it’s a magic shield), there’s no sort of “aiming assist” for your attacks so good luck trying to hit something with a ranged attack and the dodging was better at disorienting me than at actually avoiding damage (though that might’ve been just me, I’m not the best when it comes to dodging. Though I don’t usually do THIS bad, so… who knows? Could be either way.) I also think that the cooldown for potions is way too long, all the above things considered.
The world map, which you have to navigate through everytime you need to move between areas, is incredibly annoying in my opinion. There are frequent loading screens too. They are short, but there’s A LOT of them.
About the achievements, you know, I’m not sure O.o I believe that you still need to do it in one sitting though, based on my barrel experience (as in, you can save & load the game, but you can’t close it).
I wouldn’t say the music was incredibly loud, but it sure was annoying. Some areas had different music, but it was always on a short loop with one tune in particular being quite annoying. There’s no voice acting, so one could argue that you can turn the volume on your speakers all the way down, but as you say, then you’re not hearing the SFX either (and what kind of argument is that, anyway? I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect different settings for the background music and the sound effects).
The writing was really good though, and I especially liked the final boss battle. It was truly epic! I think the game is worth playing if you think you can put up with the annoyances.
Ugh, this doesn’t sound promising. I really want to like it, but I think in the end there are much better choices for me to play. :(

Yes. :) The game doesn’t have to be started this month, just the achievements/playtime from April is what “counts” for the total statistics!
