Do I have to participate in this month’s theme?
No, as with every theme, these are merely suggestions for anyone who is unsure about what to play next. If you already have a battle plan for your backlog and/or don’t like this month’s theme, you’re free to ignore it.
What happens if I don’t participate in the monthly theme?
Nothing.
What happens if I play all of my unfinished games this month?
Your backlog will be a much smaller place.

I’m surely able to find some overlap with the play-your-wins-november topic as it includes story rich games and most of my noir games are point and click / adventure, but they should be wins too…
1954 Alcatraz qualifies, and the remaining 2.5-3 Tex Murphy games. I’ll see how the month turns out, outside of these it’s Richard & Alice that I really should have played months, or even years ago. I’ll format these later but Alcatraz and R&A are the I do want to play, and Tex ones are the hopefully I’ll play category.
I’m unsure how much time there’ll be in the month… I don’t want to hard-commit but Primordia, Gemini Rue, Black Closet, Max Payne 2, Bear With Me, Knee Deep, maybe Face Noir, Daily Chthonicle: Editor’s Edition and a few others… there are so many nice games, just priorities :)

EA once tried that, with a Swedish pen & paper RPG publisher. They had a game simply called Noir, and EA has made a game called Black. And Noir means Black…

It was a cold fall day. The leaves changed much like the people. Shriveled, dry, only to be stepped on. I made my way to my favorite establishment, the BLAEO. If you didn’t know what those letters stood for already then you were better off not knowing. Every person in that establishment is a killer, a fighter, an assassin. Haunted by their past of built up games, their only goal is to kill their backlog. Almost feel sorry for them, except… I am one of them. Passing by my fellow patrons, I notice the theme on the board “Noir”. Only a smirk crawls across my face as I jot down a few targets before leaving. The match I strike is dim, much like the chances of clearing my backlog, but enough to light my cigarette. A woman with an unlit cigarette in her mouth stands besides me. Eyes vacant, but still sucking that cancer stick as if it were going to combust any moment. I get it, we all got our pasts we are running form. So, I pass on the rest of my matches and mention, “Those are some pretty dim matches, but they will be just enough to get by and just maybe get the job done.” Walking away into the cold night and chuckling, I only whisper to myself, “Yeah… it just might get the job done.”

Edit 11/7: Added Daily Chthonicle: Editor’s Edition. Procedurally generated story where you play the editor of a newspaper in a grim H.P. Lovecraft universe. I’m enjoying it quite a bit, but its definitely a very niche game. If you’ve played Zafehouse Diaries, it plays similiar.
So apparently having my Steam in german doesn’t allow me to search for “noir”? I can only search for “Krimi-Noir”. Is this now the same? thinking

How did you like MURDERED: Soul Suspect?
Quite a lot. The demons were entirely unnecessary and just plain annoying (you can easily edit a file to make them less annoying, luckily), but other than that, it’s a very solid detective adventure.

I got stuck half-way on Fahrenheit Indigo Prophecy 200+ days ago due to the quick time events not working with my keyboard, but this was the only Noir game I had in my library that I could play for BLAEO Noirvember, so I finally took the time to scrounge through Gamefaqs for a walkthrough and in the walkthrough it explained that if you changed to resolution to the lowest settings 640 X 480, you could actually do the quick-time events. And it worked like a charm! I was finally able to complete the quick-time events :D I finally got to enjoy this masterpiece and that’s what it is! I loved the over the top fight scenes and the music XD. Watching the bonuses, I recall how much love games like this got in the PS2 Era.
