BACK IN ACTION!!

It's been a while since I left SG and did my last BLAEO post, 2 years already!! Lots of ups and downs in my life, 3 different homes, 3 new pets, a new job. Well there are stuff that I am still improving, but I'm taking one step at a time, tried to run before learning how to walk, don't do it kids, it will only go bad. Anyway I decided to start fresh and get back into gaming now that I have more time for myself.

This post makes sense #1 - October 2024

A really cute, fun and full of cat puns, Cat Quests have some strong and weak points, there are no much variation on the enemies, a lot of equipment that you end no using, dificulty only scales in the amount of damage done and amount of skills the enemies casts it doesn't really feel much progression on that aspect. However with a simple story and game design it can provide quite the entertainment for a day of two

It's required to do a minimum of 4 playthroughs to get 100%, there is almost no difference between plays except for some modifiers. Getting all the achievements is a sink of time. This is a really bad side for achievement hunters.

While Castlevania has a lot of games already, the three games present in this collection are by far the best ones, I would consider all of them on the same level as Symphony of the Night. It's good to note that all of them were ported from Nintendo DS, you would imagine that moving them would imply a lost in quality, however Konami did a fantastic job to make it look as good as the original in a way bigger screen, plus implementing a smooth system to replace the touch screen mechanics.

6 playthroughs are required to get the 100%. Sadly only 3 achievements are not story related, so the achievements feel trivial, the other 3 achievements require a second playthrough on each game, which only cut content from the first play. I would say this is the only aspect where this game really lacks hard

Another Artifex Mundi HOG, while they are really good at them and this one had more logical puzzles, the audio voices feel odd and the conversations didn't feel natural, more than other HOGs.

Can be completed in a single playthrough, however most achievements are trivial and don't really offer anything unique

Don't get me wrong it is a really good game, but it is really frustrating because of the one hit mechanic, failling to kill an enemy will result in insta death almost all the time, and the hitboxes are weird to deal with, plus controllers make you feel the character is not doing what you're trying to do. Game has some really good bangers music and overall it's pretty enjoyable

Some achievements require a lot of grinding or are quite complex, will go back at it at some point but no intentions to get 100% on it anytime soon

Congratulations on your assassinations and welcome back!!! ᓚᘏᗢ
Seems like you had a pretty solid month! I’m surprised Castlevania needs 6 playthroughs to complete, I always assumed it was a linear story-based game with secret bosses.
Any gaming plans for November?

Senses

These titles include an alternate version where you play as one of the side characters present in this game (except for Portrait of Ruin which gives you characters from previous games) therefore since this collection includes 3 games + a side character mode that would be 6 plays, however it’s normally just 2 for each castlevania that includes that option.

About plans… YES!! I do have plans already, I was hesitating to include them or not, I decided not to, but I have for November: Indivisible, Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water, Lust from Beyond M, and maybe another HOG or two

Zelrune

I love the Fatal Frame games!! I’ve never personally played one but I’ve watched a twitch streamer play most of the series and they recently finished Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly just a few days ago. I’m surprised how cool it was!

At this point anyone who hasn’t posted on blaeo for a while should just join pag. You all gradually come back here.

Woah I never realised cat quest was such a pain. I mean its no stories bad though that requires like 20

Anyway good job on what you’ve done here and nice style you’ve picked

Senses

But I’m already on pagy haha

Been there since they open the Discord, I wasn’t participating until this month, I have 4 games to input this event actually (including Resident 0)

Cece09

I know and we had others do the same thing. Thats why we need to just go through the whole member list and force them to join pag. Gradually we will get them back. Or maybe we just need to convert the people already in the group

Welcome back!
I’m definetly impressed with your dedication to 100 - I don’t think I ever had a single thought in my brain to 100% Cat Quest even though I did have fun with the game. Once it gets that grindy, it sucks the fun out of it for me.

Senses

I’m pretty stubborn when I get the idea of 100% a game, and tho I normally don’t mind grinding, this was one of the exceptions, I was just desperately rushing through the last 2 runs to get it asap.

Thank you!!

La Volpe

Welcome back and congrats on backlog slaying!

I sure haven’t seen you around for a while, so that’s why. Wasn’t expecting it to be 2 years -_-. Welcome back!

Regarding leaving SG, weird that I’m considering the same thing for some time now. Don’t know what will ignite that move yet though, but it feels pretty close. Anyway, hope you’ve been doing fine, even though it seems kinda thorny.

Senses

I did it for mental health and financials, you can still be part of it with control and all but I was badly sinking a lot of money into it. Always put yourself first before anything else

Mitsukuni

I see. Well, your reply seems to will be the ignite I need I guess. :) I do need more time for my work and SG is sinking my time. If I don’t delete my account, I’ll have a reason to visit. Personally, burning the bridges always worked better for me. Though I think I’ll wait for one more Christmas thread before leaving.
